Ruaha National Park is the largest National park in Tanzania, covers an area of about 22,000 km². It is located in the middle of Tanzania about 350km from Dar es Salaam. It is one of the few Tanzania’s famous wilderness area whereby experience of game viewing spiced up by the interesting landscape. The name of the park is derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its southeastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing. The park boasts of her almost untouched and unexplored ecosystem, making visitors’ safari experience very unique.
Iringa town
Species found here include giraffe, buffalo, warthog, common waterbuck, reedbuck, greater kudu, hartebeest, wildebeest, sable antelope, and the vervet monkey. Saadani is also home to the spotted hyena, leopard and the black-backed jackal. Boat trips on the mangrove-lined Wami River come along with a high chance of sighting hippos, crocodiles and a selection of marine and riverine birds, including the mangrove kingfisher and lesser flamingo. The beaches form one of the last major green turtle breeding sites on mainland Tanzania.
You will depart early in the morning after breakfast which you will be having at your hotel to Kalenga Village which is on the way to Ruaha National Park where will be able to do some cultural activities. Hehe tribe is one of very interesting tribe in Tanzania from famous Chief Mkwawa to the remaining ruins of the forts that where built during his reign. You will also see the skull of Chief Mkwawa at the museum where his remaining are kept and later on you will have local dance with the natives (Hehe dance). After the cultural activity you will proceed to Ruaha National Park where we will check in for your accommodation and proceed for evening game drive and later return to our accommodation for dinner under the glowing stars of African sky.
We are completely flexible with your preferences and on this day will be organized according to your wishes. Your guide will discuss with you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake-up time. For example, the normal safari day would be composed with 2 shared game drives where you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive. In the evenings you will return to the camp to find a bonfire and a hearty meal under the stars.
You will start your game drive early in the morning in order to spot animals in there start of their day like hunting, milking and drinking water. With the Great Ruaha River which flows along its eastern border, creating spectacular gorges and home to 10,000 elephants has given Ruaha National Park as the best secret keep from all other parks in Tanzania. Later on, you will the exit park and start your trip back to Dar es Salaam. You will be dropped at the hotel or airport.
